Marketing internship at UtrechtInc – startup incubator

UtrechtInc is the startup incubator of Utrecht University, Hogeschool Utrecht, and UMC Utrecht. As an incubator, we assist scientists and students in bringing their inventions to the market. We achieve this by organizing workshops, providing funding opportunities, and facilitating connections within our network. Startups can enroll in our programs or rent one of our offices. To date, we have supported more than 400 startups, boasting a survival rate of over 60%. This places us among the top 10 university-linked incubators globally. Some notable examples of startups we’ve supported include SnappCar, GitLab, Stoov, and Channable.

Job description

Currently, our UtrechtInc team consists of 5 people. However, we’re looking to expand our reach on campus and are seeking a marketing intern to join our team for 4 to 5 days a week, starting in August/September for a period of 4-6 months. While experience with marketing would be nice, it’s not mandatory to apply. We’re more than willing to teach you the ropes. We’re seeking someone who is creative, collaborative, and eager to learn. You have the opportunity to make this position as challenging as you desire by taking on extra assignments in areas that interest you and are relevant to the incubator. While proficiency in Dutch is a plus, it’s not a requirement, as our community is very international.

Tasks for the marketing intern include (but are not limited to):

• Creating social media posts, primarily for LinkedIn and Instagram. We use Canva, an intuitive online design program, for most of our visuals.
• Content planning using Buffer to schedule our social media content.
• Creating website content such as blogs and news articles.
• Optimizing our website content for Google.
• Organizing events for our community.

Position Overview

As a Student Startup Scout, you will play an important role in discovering and supporting the next generation of student entrepreneurs and student talent within the Utrecht Science Park. Working closely with our dynamic team, your responsibilities will include actively promoting our student incubator program and events. Your main goal will be to identify high-quality student startups for our student validation program which runs twice a year. Additionally, you will scout for talented students who can join the startups within our community.

Responsibilities

• Promotion of the Student Validation Program – Develop and execute creative strategies to raise awareness about our Student Validation Program among potential student entrepreneurs;
• Networking and outreach – Represent UtrechtInc at networking events, career days and other relevant gatherings organized by student associations. Create engaging content for our social media channels, website and other promotional materials;
• Track progress – Maintain accurate records of your activities and outcomes, ensuring we meet our key performance indicators.

Requirements

• You are studying at the University of Utrecht, University of Applied Sciences Utrecht or University Medical Centre Utrecht (Medicine);
• You have a passion for entrepreneurship and innovation;
• You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse audiences and build meaningful connections;
• You have a proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a team;
• You have strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and reach goals effectively.
